Description
Half model of the shallop Aviza, designed by William A. Baker to recreate shallops used in the Chesapeake Bay circa 1725. The model shows a vessel with a full bow, round midsection, and a strong sheer sweeping up to a wineglass transom.
The Aviza was rigged with two masts and leg-of-mutton sails. It also had a removable, modern deckhouse for her owner, Rear Admiral Richard Blackburn Black.
