Description

Fully rigged model of the half brig News Boy. The hull has a sharp, flared clipper bow and fine lines around a short, wide midsection. The rig consists of two masts, with yards for square sails on the fore mast and a gaff rig on the main. Model is painted green below the waterline and black above, with white on the deck houses and bulwarks.

The News Boy was designed by D.J. Lawlor of East Boston and built by Elisha Brown in Owl's Head, Maine. Owned by merchants Dabney & Cunningham of Boston, the brig carried fresh fruit and other cargoes from the Mediterranean to Boston.
