This oscilloscope in housed in a rectangular metal case with two metal handles on either side of the front plate. There is a circular cathode ray tube screen with a plastic cover with a black grid printed on it on top of the CRT screen in the center of the instrument. The instrument also has several knobs and electrical connectors on the front face. This instrument was designed to slot into a rack as part of a larger instrument array. Serial number 000262.
Oscilloscopes display electrical voltage as a function of time. Though they are used in a variety of industries, this oscilloscope was designed as a general purpose piece of laboratory equipment to analyze electrical circuits by studying the waveform of voltage and current at various points in the circuit. This instrument was used at the MIT Center for Space Research and has both an MIT and a Property of US Government / NASA sticker on it.
