Original Caption: "Destination Tokyo Maj. Gen. James H. Doolittle fastens a Japanese medal on a 500-pound bomb to mark its destination: Tokyo. The time: April 18, 1942. The place: The aircraft carrier Hornet, at a spot in the Pacific Ocean from which Doolittle and his 79 men, in 16 B25 bombers, launched the first World War II air raid on Japan. Of the 60 members of the crews who are still living, about 30, including Doolittle, were expected for their annual reunion, this one on the 12th anniversary of the raid, in Galveston, Tex."
